What is Speed Dating?
Speed dating is becoming more and more popular in our busy modern world. What speed dating is, really, is simply a large group of men and women. The women will usually sit at a table as the men come, one by one, and talk to each woman on an individual basis. They may talk for 3 minutes, 5 minutes or 15 minutes – it really depends on the specific program. This allows each person to decide which person(s) he or she would like to pursue.
Most people who take part in speed dating events have found the experience to be very similar to going to a party in that many men and women go from person to person chatting about, even flirting, before moving on. As well, the mood of the room is usually conducive to meeting new people with elegant music like jazz or soft rock playing nearby, along with a waiter who will refill your glass with wine when you run low.
Most people find that quickly getting to know a lot of men or women in a short period of time is very useful and suits the busy lifestyle of most people living in a metropolitan area, whereas other people may find that 3or 5 minutes is just not enough time to decide whether or not you like someone, or to show someone the best side of you.
The main advantages of speed dating is that you are very likely to meet at least one person who also has an interest in you and in some cases you may meet a few people who you are interested in dating. This can save you a lot of time as often it may take weeks to find someone online that you want to date.
The best way to decide whether or not speed dating is for you is to go to an event. If you are feeling nervous about doing this, why not take a single friend or two along with you to put you at ease. Find out more about Speed Dating UK Events here.
